A Legal Advocacy Program
Since 1992,
York County Community Action has been providing legal
advocacy to low-income people attempting to represent
themselves in family law matters. We explain court procedures,
and paperwork and offer support at a confusing and difficult
time.
This program
helps people who need assistance with understanding court
forms or in filling out court paperwork for family law
issues such as parental rights and responsibilities, divorce,
post-judgement motions, power of attorney, adoption, name
change or guardianship.
This program
CANNOT help with criminal matters, DHS protective cases,
or bankruptcy.
Clients are seen by appointment at our three offices in
Sanford, Kittery and Biddeford.
Staffing the
program is Helen Rousseau, MTS, a Legal Advocate for 10
years in the area of Family Law and other civil actions.
