Home Energy Audit

 

For both CHIP and Weatherization programs, the process begins with an audit. A qualified Service Technician will audit your heating source, and a Home Energy Auditor will come to your house to assess your home's energy use and loss. If you qualify for CHIP or Weatherization, your home project will be placed on a priority list. Priority is given to:

 

    - Households with older adult/senior members

    - Households with disabled members

    - Families with children under the age of 24 months

    - Households whose repair needs are urgent for safety reasons

Health & Safety Home Repair

 

The Home Repair Program and the State of Maine Department of Economic and Community Development provide grants to finance safety repairs for income-eligible homeowners. Repairs may include roofs, windows, electrical, septic systems, and other repairs necessary to bring your home up to federal and state health and safety codes.

The Weatherization Program offers a variety of services to eligible households who are in need of home repairs or modifications.

 

Weatherization may provide assistance to qualifying households, to:

Insulation and Energy Efficiency

 

The Department of Energy and Home Energy Assistance Weatherization Program (HEAPWx) provide assistance to eligible households, with the goal to install energy-saving measures that will cut down on heating and energy costs.

 

Examples of services/materials covered by HEAPWx include

insulation, weather stripping and window inserts.

Above Ground Fuel Storage Program

 

The Above Ground Storage Program (AGST) is funded by the Department of Environmental Protection, and provides assistance to income-eligible households who need to replace leaking or non-code conforming fuel tanks.
