“Every child deserves a Head Start,” the saying goes, and we couldn’t agree more. We want to help you provide your child with a Head Start on life.
York County Head Start believes that a parent is the child’s first and most important teacher. Our program is designed to assist you in that role. Preparing your child for school and helping him or her to develop the skills necessary for success is our goal.
At Head Start, your child will receive a variety of learning experiences to foster intellectual, social, and emotional growth. Head Start children play together in a safe and nurturing environment, and participate in early educational activities. Your child will be provided a healthy meal each day, and will be involved in a comprehensive health program, which includes immunizations, medical, dental and mental health services, and nutritional services. We will encourage you, the parent, to help out in your child’s classroom and to stay involved with your child’s Head Start experience by sharing ideas and preparing materials for classroom and home activities, participating in the Parent Committee and Head
Start Policy Council, and attending field trips.
