Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a program that provides a fixed amount of funding to Maine each year from the federal government. Community Action Agencies, including York County Community Action, stopped taking applications for the program in March 2024. MaineHousing expects will make every effort to provide assistance to eligible applicants who submit a completed application by the deadline, but cannot guarantee that assistance will be available.

We invite bids from interested contractors to provide weatherization services for homes of income-eligible residents throughout York County. Our Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) provides services to improve the energy efficiency of single-family homes, mobile homes and 2-4 unit dwellings. All successful bidders will be required to comply with MaineHousing certification requirements. The Invitation to Bid package can be obtained by contacting Louise Pridham (207) 459-2893.

HEAP Heating Assistance
HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program) helps eligible homeowners and renters cover heating costs.
Weatherization Program
We offer eligible homeowners an audit of their home to check for energy efficiency and safety concerns and connect them to available funding for improvements.
Electricity Lifeline Program (ELP)
To help with electricity costs, households can receive a credit to their CMP bill based on household income and estimated electricity usage.
Energy Crisis Intervention
Eligible homeowners and renters receive emergency financial assistance once per season for fuel or avoiding electricity cut-offs.
Central Heating Improvement
CHIP provides grant funds to repair or replace malfunctioning heating systems.
Other Energy Services
YCCAC connects people with many energy services and programs including energy upgrades, such as replacing old fuel tanks or installing electric poles.
