HEAP Heating Assistance

HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program) provides assistance to eligible homeowners and renters to help cover heating and energy costs. Renters whose utilities are included in their rent may also be eligible for assistance with direct and indirect energy costs. In most cases, the funds are distributed directly to the fuel and utility vendors.

Each year, more than 7,000 individuals and families in York County heat their homes with help from HEAP.

Am I Eligible for HEAP?

The amount of assistance you receive from HEAP is based on many factors including your household size, income and energy costs.

Additional help may be available if you have less than a 7-day supply of heating fuel or are in danger of having utility services disconnected and you have no means to pay your energy company.

Apply online for help with your heating costs at Maine Housing here.
